How do we prevent injuries during dance routines? With the increased population that chooses dance as a medium to remain fit, awareness about appropriately engaging one’s joints and muscles becomes a pertinent concern. Sports Medicine, thus as a field of study is gaining popularity amongst dance schools and fitness centres.
Sports medicine primarily focuses on the following areas –
1. Common Injuries during a sport/dance – Causes, Symptoms, diagnosis and treatments
2. Overtraining Issues
3. Treatment and Coping
4. How to get back to dance/sport after injuries?
5. How to prevent common injuries?
Sports injuries are not uncommon and can be either acute (sprains, fractures, tears, etc.) or chronic (tendonitis, overuse, etc.).Recognition and treatment of the most common injuries is important so that they heal properly. An injury is a setback for any dancer, but treatment and rehab, will help you be back in action soon.
Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation in collaboration with Hrishikesh Pawar’s Centre of Contemporary Dance bring for you a workshop to share the principles of Sports Medicine and educate the group about one’s anatomy and its engagement specifically with respect to dance routines.
